The United Nations declared December 5 as the International Volunteer Day in 1984 to observance to promote volunteerism throughout the world. This day offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual volunteers to make their contributions visible at local, national and international levels.

As a volunteer organization SCI celebrates IVD every year to recognize its volunteers’ contribution to promote peace and social justice.
