SCI Bangladesh is working in Rangabali under Patuakhali District for more than two decades to provide primary health service, aforestation and livelihood support to the most vulnerable people in the area.
Rangabali situated in the coastal belt of Bay of Bengal. It is a highly disaster prone area. Most often people of this area face severe cyclone, tornado and other natural calamities. Due to its geographical location, Rangabali is one of the remotest areas of Bangladesh and there is no primary medical service available for the most vulnerable habitants of this island.
Under the above backdrop SCI Bangladesh in collaboration with Lions Club of Dhaka, Ideal Green and BNSB, Patuakhali has organized a three days long medical camp in Rangabali from 19 – 21 February 2016.
The medical camp was provided various services that would include eye camp, dental care, cleft leap, pediatric treatment, primary gynecological services and general surgery and medicine to 27,00 patients. 28 patients were referred to BNSB, Patuakhali Hospital for cataract surgery. A total of 23 doctors from various disciplines from Dhaka as volunteer doctors and 10 national and 2 international volunteers from Japan and a good number of local youths were participated in the medical camp.
